Investing in a good pair of binoculars is probably one of the best ways to get more out of being outdoors.

And to help you make the right decision about which pair is right for your needs, RSPB Bempton Cliffs is offering the chance to meet and talk with experts from Viking Optical, the UK’s leading independent importers and distributors of optical equipment, with over 30 years experience.

Scott Smith, Visitor Operations Manager said:

‘It’s easy to get bamboozled when faced with a huge array of binoculars. Numbers like 8 x 25 may be confusing but the 8 simply means that you’ll see things 8 times closer than you would without them.  Our aim is to explain the jargon and help you find the perfect pair for your particular hobby – which may be horse racing rather than bird watching’.

A wide range of kit, including the RSPB’s own collection through to top of the range Swarkovski’s, will be on display and visitors will be able to put binoculars and telescopes to the test in the amazing landscape around and beyond the Seabird Centre.

Scott continued:

‘A decent pair of binoculars will literally change your view of the world.  Moreover, our optics experts can give the kind of in-depth advice that you might not get in a more general retail outlet. And, of course, there’s probably no better place in the country to ‘try-before-you-buy’ than our stunning cliff tops.’

The Big Binocular Event takes place at RSPB Bempton Cliffs over the weekend of 29-30 September
