Brading marshes RSPB reserve, Ryde, Isle of Wight, UK

Spring is a wonderful time for wildlife, with birds singing and flowers blooming.

The RSPB and Manchester City Council are inviting families and budding photographers to take part in Easter holidays events, giving everyone the opportunity to get out and explore the amazing wildlife of the Mersey Valley.

Family friendly drop-in events are being held at Fletcher Moss on Wednesday 4 April and at Chorlton Water Park on Wednesday 11 April where families can start their Wild Challenge and win prizes by taking part in an Easter nature trail. As well as learning more about the wildlife that makes its home in the Mersey Valley, a wildflower activity will also be taking place. Both events are free and will run from 10am-3pm.

At these events, award winning photographer Daniel Carter of EATphotography.co.uk will be running free photography taster walks, where he will show participants how to use a camera or smartphone to capture wonderful wildlife shots on short walks around the parks. Suitable for adults and children over 12 (children must accompanied by an adult), the walks will run on the hour from 10am until 2pm. Daniel will be on hand during the 30 minute sessions to talk about the essentials of wildlife photography and to highlight the fabulous photo opportunities the Mersey Valley presents.

Venues:

‘Easter Wild Challenge’ at Fletcher Moss – activities will be taking place in the wildlife garden at Fletcher Moss Park and Gardens. Use the Millgate Lane entrance, M20 2SW.

‘Easter Wild Challenge’ at Chorlton Water Park – activities will be taking place by the lake. Use the Maitland Avenue entrance, M21 7ND.

The meeting place for the photography walks will be the RSPB gazebo at each event.
