Get ready for some festive cheer at the RSPB Leighton Moss Christmas Market. For the second year running, the popular nature reserve in Silverdale will transform into a festive hub for their Christmas Market on Sunday 2 December.

Taking place from 11am-4pm, the market will be held both outside in the reserve’s Sensory Garden and indoors in The Holt. Visitors can look forward to a wide range of delicious foods, lovely holiday treats, unique art and gorgeous gifts – all provided by local producers and independent traders including Old School Brewery, Wooden Folk Art, Susan Schofield Art, Orchard Barn Heritage Fruit, Clair Harris Art, Artisan Pies and many more.

Hot mulled drinks and mince pies will be on offer and can be enjoyed whilst listening to the ‘Ladies of Note’ Choir.
Shoppers can choose from the great range of Christmas cards, calendars, decorations and seasonal gifts available in the RSPB shop. The reserve’s monthly Binoculars and Telescopes Open Day will also be held, where experts will be on hand to offer advice on the products available from the RSPB. Not just for wildlife experts, RSPB reserve shops stock a wide range of equipment suitable for different skill levels and interests. The range includes RSPB and Viking binoculars and telescopes as well as other premium brands such as Swarovski and Leica. There is certainly something for everyone to enjoy.

Admission to the Christmas Market is free, normal admission charges apply to non-members visiting the reserve.

Naomi Wadsworth, Visitor Experience Intern at Leighton Moss said: “Come on down and get into the festive spirit with us at the Leighton Moss Christmas market, found in the lovely surroundings of the nature reserve. Our commitment to supporting local businesses and producers means that visitors can enjoy a variety of products which really showcase what this wonderful region has to offer.”

On any day throughout December, families can also take part in the ‘Winter’s Wildlife Wonders’ Wild Challenge trail to discover more about the winter residents, seasonal visitors and natural spectacles to witness at Leighton Moss. Drop-in on any day through the month and collect a quiz sheet from the visitor centre. It’s a free activity, normal admission charges apply to non-members.

This activity contributes to the RSPB’s Wild Challenge online awards scheme, encouraging families to get closer to the natural world, completing fun, wildlife related activities, learning about nature and earning awards.
