Torry Battery is a fantastic spot to see dolphins all year round. With panoramic views of the harbour mouth and North Sea, you may also enjoy spectacular sightings of marine wildlife such as seabirds, seals, otters and whales.
The best place to look for dolphins is between the orange breakwater wall and the lighthouse during summer months, when the dolphins can sometimes be seen feeding.
Aberdeen harbour is the most reliable spot to see dolphins, but other greats spots to visit are Cove Bay, Chanonry Point and Spey Bay.

RSPB Dolphinwatch at Torry Battery
Aberdeen is one of the best places in Europe to see bottlenose dolphins.
Aberdeen harbour is one of the few places where you can see bottlenose dolphins all year round.
It’s a particularly good spot as it’s a feeding ground.
They are also the largest bottlenose dolphins in the world, growing up to 4 metres long. They are so big because Scottish waters are colder and they have to put on extra blubber.
People are very excited to get such good views of the dolphins.
Dolphinwatch is a partnership project led by RSPB Scotland to celebrate and help protect marine wildlife.
Dolphinwatch is a project led by RSPB Scotland in partnership with Aberdeen City Council and Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC). It comprises of Dolphinwatch Schools, Viewing and DolphinFest. Dolphinwatch is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and Scotland's Year of Coasts and Waters - celebrating the water that makes the country's landscape so special and loved.
