HSBC UK and the RSPB
HSBC UK and the RSPB are working together to connect people with their environment.
A decade of working together
HSBC UK and the RSPB have worked together for nearly a decade, with HSBC UK funding improvements to RSPB nature reserves across the UK. This funding has been vital to the RSPB improving our sites’ ecological value and securing access to nature for all.

Water programme
In 2013, HSBC UK funded a suite of major wetland restoration projects to take place in four UK locations; Bowers Marsh (Essex), Norther Warren (Suffolk), Lydden Valley (Kent) and Crook of Baldoon (Dumfries and Galloway).

Getting dug-in
In 2016, HSBC UK staff began volunteering at RSPB reserves, giving us their time to help tackle big tasks like revitalising reedbeds. In 2019, HSBC UK chose to increase their support for our reserves. Directly funding another round of improvement works across six RSPB reserves; Rainham Marshes, Middleton Lakes, Fairburn Ings, St Aidan’s, Old Moor and Lochwinnoch.

Impact
HSBC UK’s funding has created wildlife havens, sensory gardens, accessible pond dipping areas, and new paths across our reserves. These new features not only secure nature a future home but will allow tens of thousands of visitors, young and old, to access new areas of our sites and discovery hidden parts of nature.
