What's in it for you?

During your stay you will be a key member of the wardening team and depending on the time of you year you will be carrying out tasks such as:- Scrub clearance, fencing, hedgerow maintenance, reedbed creation, estate maintenance, wildlife surveys and research – the list goes on! No two days are the same! The majority of the role will be practical conservation work but there is the chance to assist with the visitor experience and education team. This is a great opportunity to see how a reserve works for people as well as wildlife. We get over 120,000 visitors a year so are constantly working to meet the needs of visitors and the wildlife that make their homes in the valley. During your stay, you will be living on the reserve in a beautiful stone farm house, with Old Moor as your back yard! There maybe opportunities for training and ecological survey techniques depending on the length of your stay and availability. Overall this is an excellent chance to make a genuine contribution to a leading conservation charity as well as gaining a valuable in sight into what the RSPB is all about
