Youth Event Helpers - [Sandwell Valley]

Wednesday 8 March 2017
Vacancy type:
Inspiring young people, Community groups
Sandwell Valley

What we're looking for

We need enthusiastic volunteers to assist with activities on the reserve aimed at engaging and enthusing the young people that use the reserve. Youth event helpers will assist with organised events or with regular 'drop-in' style sessions which are aimed to engage with passing traffic. From May to August we keep the reserve open a bit later for two nights a week so we can engage with the local children that use the reserve on an evening. We want our youth helpers to be on hand with activities that they can take part in if they wish, such as pond dipping, orienteering or scavenger hunt challenges.

The skills you need

Experience of working with children and young people. Some conservation and wildlife knowledge would be advantageous. There will be additional training days initially.

Your time

One day per week.

What's in it for you?

You will get to work with a great team staff and volunteers who are looking to make sure local young people use the nature reserve and gain a sense of ownership of the reserve. The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in Europe! We can help you gain skills and give you a valuable insight into our work.
