Vacancy type:
Practical conservation, Corporate and employee volunteering
Location:
Wolves Wood Reserves

What to expect

Wolves wood reserve is one of the largest blocks of ancient woodland in Suffolk. It is home to a wide variety of plants and animals and remains so, because the wood is carefully managed by staff and volunteers. Your help will assist the RSPB (Europe's largest wildlife conservation charity) preserve and enhance this nationally important site. The reserve is home to the melodic nightingale, marsh tits and a whole range of rare woodland and scrubland birds. Facilities: car parking.

Your group

Team Challenges are muddy and energetic, but that's all part of the fun! We will supply all tools and the necessary protective equipment such as gloves. No skills are required, just make sure to bring old clothes, waterproofs, plenty of drinking water and packed lunches. Group size: 7 - 20

Support us

Minimum:
1 day
Duration:
10am - 4pm (flexible)
Period:
October - March

The skills and time provided by corporate teams are incredibly valuable to the RSPB. Corporate work parties help us tackle jobs that would otherwise take our wardens days or even weeks to complete. Employee volunteering also helps us to build community links and valuable business support, and many of our business volunteers return to our reserves with family and friends after their volunteer experience. Some even join as members and become life-long supporters.

How you will help us

Help us with our nature conservation work; we have a variety of projects running throughout the year; coppicing, ride management, removal of non-native species and keeping ponds clear is all part of the jigsaw in maintaining a valuable species-rich habitat. Start the day with a talk introducing you to the reserve and the RSPB, before heading out on your conservation task. Enjoy the afternoon spotting the site's fascinating wildlife with one of our knowledgeable wardens.
