Vacancy type:
Inspiring young people, Community groups
Location:
Fowlmere

What we're looking for

Here's the problem - According to a recent statistic, as many as 1 in 5 children nationally no longer play outside, and this figure is growing! It is vital that we get children engaged with the natural world, so they grow to care for it and look after our planet long into the future. Here's the challenge - To help us enthuse and educate the next generation about the wonders of the natural world, keep them interested, and give them the skills to look after the world for generations to come! Join the other friendly leaders at the Fowlmere Wildlife Explorers (WEX) children's club, and help us to continue to inspire children to enjoy and care for wildlife and the environment. The group meets on the second Sunday of the month at the Fowlmere reserve and at other locations locally (and sometimes further afield), for fun wildlife themed activities for kids. The group is for 7-12 year olds.

The skills you need

You will need to have excellent communication skills with children, their parents and other leaders. An enthusiasm for the natural world and conservation is a must but you don't have to be an expert on birds! You will be expected to help plan, prepare and run activities, working with the other leaders to do so.

Your time

Minimum:
Up to 11 meetings a year, 3-4 hours per month
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

This is a great voluntary opportunity for you to share your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm with children through fun and engaging tasks and activities.
