What we're looking for

Northern Ireland is an amazing place when it comes to wildlife. We are fortunate enough to be able to experience an astounding variety of species and habitats right on our doorstep. Many of them however are sadly disappearing. We are determined to stop this from happening and urgently need your help. Are you passionate about raising valuable funds for our work to save Northern Ireland's wildlife and habitats? If this sounds like you, get in touch and become part of the fundraising team and service our pin badge boxes, in your local area, in your own time.

The skills you need

• Good communication skills and an ability to liaise with your local community links. • Numeracy, record-keeping skills and the ability to handle cash efficiently and accurately. • Basic computer literacy. • An ability to use your own initiative. • Available for a few hours each month.

Your time

Minimum:
A few hours per month
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

• Be part of something big – a vast movement working together to help save nature. • The role is flexible, working around you – just a few hours per month, to suit your lifestyle. • An opportunity to develop your fundraising skills and boost your CV. • Make additional community links and meet new people in your local area. • Appropriate training and friendly support will be provided, and your expenses will be reimbursed where necessary.

Notes

You will be part of our team of over 1,500 volunteers across the UK, who are crucial to the running of our pin badge scheme. We will support you to place 1-5 boxes in your chosen area. Your boxes will need to be topped up and banked every 4-6 weeks. You will report the income on our user friendly online system and place an order for any additional stock you may need. This can all be done in a time to suit your other commitments. We ask for a suggested donation of £1 per badge and, on average, each box raises £150 per year for the RSPB. Our current range has over 100 high quality and attractive badge designs, depicting UK wildlife. No knowledge of birds or wildlife is required – just a passion and enthusiasm to help us give nature a home. Like nature, our survival depends on diversity. Nature has no borders and neither do we. We believe that nature is everybody's right and being an equal, diverse organisation is the right thing to do to find solutions to our common challenges. We recognise the value of difference and want all volunteers to feel welcome, included and able to be themselves. We want to better reflect the communities in which we work so particularly welcome more volunteer applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and people under 25. We have good representation from people with disabilities amongst our volunteers and are open to discussion about any adjustments you may need or want to volunteer.
