Bird Feeder Maintenance Volunteer

Vacancy type:
Practical conservation, Helping visitors at our reserves
Location:
West Sedgemoor

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone to keep the local woodland birds bellies full by helping to regularly top up our bird feeders at our Swell Wood Reserve! We want to ensure that food for our woodland birds are kept in good supply, as food sources, particularly in Autumn and Winter, can become scarce. Not to mention extra hungry mouths during the nesting period.

The skills you need

Living locally, and having some local knowledge of the area is an advantage, but not essential. You will need an up-to-date tetanus injection. Your own vehicle may be required.

Your time

Minimum:
Saturday or Sunday, every week
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

You'll be directly helping to support the local birdlife, as well as creating a really nature rich, initial experience for the public the moment they arrive at the reserve. You'll be making a valuable contribution to the reserve, have the chance to talk to visitors, and become part of a like-minded, friendly team. You'll have the opportunity to learn more about what we do, and develop new skills.

Notes

Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary. The RSPB is the country's largest nature conservation charity, inspiring everyone to give nature a home. Together with our partners, we protect threatened birds and wildlife so our towns, coast and countryside will teem with life once again. We play a leading role in BirdLife International, a worldwide partnership of nature conservation organisations. Your time helping birds have a woodland home can make a real difference to the work of the RSPB and it would be great if you could join us.
