What we're looking for

To ensure that all visitors to our reserve have a pleasurable and interesting time! The duties include meeting the public, handling money and stock and recruiting new members. RSPB shops and catalogues raise nearly 10% of our income. By volunteering in the shop, you will help us present the RSPB in a friendly and professional manner. This will increase both visitor's enjoyment and our income!

The skills you need

We are looking for people who live within a five-mile radius of the reserve who can cover the lunchtime period between 11 and 2 as required on our pre-arranged rota. You need to enjoy working with the public in a busy environment to cover when our staff or regular volunteers are not available. You will have retail experience, with the ability to handle money and stock. We need you to give a positive and friendly welcome and inform visitors about the reserve and the work of the RSPB with a view to encouraging them to become members. You will also have a confident, friendly manner both face to face and on the telephone, with knowledge of optical equipment and computers useful, but not essential, as training will be provided. Please note this role will involve standing for long periods of time.
