What we're looking for

The Symonds Yat peregrine project is specifically set up to show visitors to Symonds Yat Rock an amazing pair of peregrine falcons that are breeding in the wild. You'll be on hand to help visitors to use the high powered telescopes, getting up to date with the birds' movements and their conservation, as well as telling them about all the other amazing wildlife that can be seen from the viewpoint You can wow the visitors about the work of the RSPB and tell them how they can get involved and become a member.

The skills you need

Are you enthusiastic, outgoing with a big smile? Could YOU help the team show off the world fastest bird - the peregrine? Don't have any specialist knowledge? DON'T PANIC as we will teach you everything you need to know! The project does not involve any physical land management work, it's all about talking, inspiring and motivating the public about the birds and to support us! The role will mean standing for long periods in the open without a hide, but don't worry, you'll have an amazing time and the hours will FLY past! You must be aged 18 or over, and have your own transport.

What's in it for you?

This is your chance to be involved with the RSPB at one of the most spectacular views in the country and showing people one of the most amazing birds - the peregrine falcon. You'll be in the thick of it, showing the birds off, answering questions like "How fast do they fly?" "Where's their nestsite?" “How many chicks do they have?” “When will I see the birds?” "Was that a Raven or a Robin?" You'll be given the answers to all these questions - and the memories are yours to take away with you. Caravan accommodation is provided at Bracelands Campsite 2 miles from Symonds Yat Rock. So, if you love wildlife, don't keep it to yourself; come and join us and share it with others!!
