What we're looking for

Eastern England is an amazing place for wildlife. The variety of species and habitats is outstanding - but they are disappearing at an alarming rate. 10% of all UK species are now under threat. We're determined to stop this happening, but we urgently need your help. Our community fundraising volunteers – through the collection box scheme - are the local face of the RSPB. Last year, in Eastern England, the team raised more than £3,000 in donations from our collection boxes, and more than £85,000 nationally. Could you help us raise even more? When you join our team of volunteers we will support you to place and manage five or more collection boxes in shops and visitor attractions in your chosen area. We will then ask you to visit these sites every 6 – 8 weeks (at your convenience) and count and bank the donations at any Post Office or PayPoint location using a personalised PayPoint card supplied to you. You will have regular contact with your local Community Fundraiser at the Norwich office who will be able to support you in your volunteering role. This can all be done at a time that suits you. Simple!

The skills you need

The role requires a friendly and personable approach, a high level of motivation, basic computer skills and the ability to work on your own. In addition, knowledge of your local shops, businesses, pubs and tourist attractions as well as potential sites for new boxes in your area would also be very helpful. No expert knowledge of birds or wildlife is required – just an interest in supporting our vital conservation work.

Your time

What's in it for you?

Be part of something big – a vast movement working together to help save nature. Helping us fundraise with our collection boxes is a rewarding and simple way to raise valuable funds for the RSPB. The role is very flexible, working around your availability to visit the boxes you manage. It is an enjoyable role that will get you out and about meeting people in your local area. It's also an excellent way to develop your fundraising skills and boost your CV. We will provide you with all the information and equipment you need to fulfil the role and you will be supported at all times by your local Community Fundraising Officer, based at our regional office in Norwich. We will invite you to volunteer thank you events and send you copies of our bi-annual volunteer. Appropriate expenses will be reimbursed where necessary.
