What we're looking for

We are looking for a volunteer to come and join us in the New Year here at the RSPB's UK HQ, based in Sandy, Bedfordshire. We are a small and friendly team made up of staff and other volunteers We have responsibility for the screening and vetting of all volunteers depending on the role they undertake. This administrative role involves using our in-house database to request references for volunteers and ensuring replies are received and recorded in a timely manner. You will also be helping to ensure that the data we hold on our volunteers is accurate and complete and complies with recent Data Protection legislation. We would like you to be proficient in database management and familiar with Outlook. There is also a large paper-based filing system which runs in conjunction with our electronic records, so you will need to be able to handle full lever-arch files which are kept on shelves from ground level to head height.

The skills you need

Attention to detail, basic computer literacy, good communication skills. You should be able to work alone on your own imitative and as part of a team. This role is procedural and has an element of repetition. It incorporates access to a great deal of sensitive and confidential information, which must be respected at all times.

Your time

Minimum of one day per week for at least 6 months
All year round
