Corporate Team Challenge - RSPB Fen Drayton Lakes

Posted:
Wednesday 2 May 2012
Vacancy type:
Practical conservation, Corporate and employee volunteering
Location:
Fen Drayton Lakes Nature Reserve

What to expect

This complex of lakes and traditional riverside meadows next to the River Great Ouse used to be gravel workings. It is a fantastic place to explore and watch birds with huge numbers of ducks, swans and geese on the lakes in winter. In summer, terns, hobbies and a variety of dragonflies are regularly seen. Otters also live here, but are rarely seen. Facilities: car parking.

Your group

Team Challenges are muddy and energetic, but that's all part of the fun! We will supply all tools and the necessary protective equipment such as gloves. No skills are required, just make sure to bring old clothes, waterproofs, plenty of drinking water and packed lunches. Group size: 7 - 20

All year

The skills and time provided by corporate teams are incredibly valuable to the RSPB. Corporate work parties help us tackle jobs that would otherwise take our wardens days or even weeks to complete. Employee volunteering also helps us to build community links and valuable business support, and many of our business volunteers return to our reserves with family and friends after their volunteer experience. Some even join as members and become life-long supporters.

How you will help us

Help us with our nature conservation work; we have a variety of projects running throughout the year including: reed bed management, willow bashing and bonfires, woodland coppicing. Start the day with a talk introducing you to the reserve and the RSPB, before heading out on your conservation task. Enjoy the afternoon spotting the site's fascinating wildlife with one of our knowledgeable wardens.
