Vacancy type:

Farnham Heath & Hazeley Heath Nature Reserves

What we're looking for

We are looking for people to chat, help and have fun! We want to make Farnham & Hazeley Heath Reserves a wonderful place for everyone who visits. Although we do not have a visitors centre we do attend local activities and are looking for people like you who can bring the personal touch to the world of nature and be able to enthuse people about wildlife and the RSPB locally. Your tasks will be varied but will include: *Assisting with Guided Walks *Helping to set up, run a small event stand and pack away afterwards *Chatting to people about our heathland reserves and the work of the RSPB *Assisting with creating promotional work e.g.. posters *Creating information displays There may also be opportunities to help out with other 'face-to-face' work on the reserves e.g.. completing visitor surveys, questionnaires etc. On most occasions specialist wildlife knowledge is not necessarily required.

The skills you need

You will already have bags of enthusiasm about nature and the environment but you will also need great communication skills so you can share your enthusiasm and inspire others. Experience in running events would be useful but isn't essential as it's your friendly and outgoing personality that is more important. As you'll be helping to create posters and displays some computer skills will be needed and ideally experience of using Microsoft Office products.

Your time

1 day per month, including some weekend and evening work.
All year round but busiest in summer.

What's in it for you?

This is your chance to meet lots of new people and chat to them about nature, enthuse and inspire them. It is an opportunity to gain all important 'people skills' as well as gain experience in running events and membership recruitment. You'll be supporting the RSPB's work without getting too muddy and working with a small friendly team. There will also be some opportunities for training in this role so you can feel confident, learn some new skills and work at your very best.
