Vacancy type:
Inspiring young people, Community groups
Location:
Old Moor

What we're looking for

Young people are tomorrow's conservationists and helping them to discover the wonders of nature and to develop a passion for wildlife is a key area of our work. We want you to help run fun environmental games and activities for children aged around 6 to 12 years of age which will encourage them to explore the natural world and help them to develop a concern for the environment.

The skills you need

You need to enjoy working with children, but you don't have to be an expert on birds, plants or any other sort of wildlife. All that's required is energy and enthusiasm. You will also need to attend a weekend training course during your first year. Our RSPB Wildlife Explorers group at Old Moor meets monthly, for a couple of hours, with a programme of indoor and outdoor events. With preparation time, you will need 8-10 hours a month.

Your time

Minimum:
Up to 6 meetings a year, 4-5 hours per month
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

Enthusing and inspiring young people about birds, the environment and conservation is one of the most worthwhile and rewarding things you will ever do. It's a challenge but lots of fun. The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in Europe! We can help you gain new skills and give you a valuable insight into our work.
