Vacancy type:
Practical conservation, Residential volunteering
Location:
Symonds Yat Rock

What we're looking for

The Symonds Yat peregrine project is specifically set up to show visitors to Symonds Yat Rock an amazing pair of peregrine falcons that are breeding in the wild. You'll be on hand to help visitors use the high powered telescopes, help them see the birds and get up to date with the birds' movements and their conservation. You can wow the visitors about the work of the RSPB and tell them how they can get involved and become a member.

The skills you need

Are you enthusiastic, outgoing with a big smile? Could YOU help the team show off the world fastest bird - the peregrine? Don't have any specialist knowledge? DON'T PANIC as we will teach you everything you need to know! The project does not involve any physical land management work, it's all about talking, inspiring and motivating the public about the birds and about joining us! The role will mean standing for long periods in the open without a hide, but don't worry, you'll have an amazing time and the hours will FLY past! You must be aged 18 or over and international volunteers must speak very good English. Your own car or bicycle essential.

Your time

Minimum:
4 weeks
Duration:
June 9 to July 7, 2018
Period:
June 9 to July 7, 2018

What's in it for you?

This is your chance to be involved with the RSPBs "Date with Nature" project. We've got one of the most spectacular views in the country and one of the most amazing birds - the peregrine falcon. You'll be in the thick of it, showing the birds off, answering questions like: "How fast do they fly?" "Where's their nest site "Was that a Raven or a Robin?" You'll be given the answers to all these questions - and the memories are yours to take away with you. Accommodation is provided on the Camping in the Forest caravan site, 2 miles from Symonds Yat Rock. So, if you love wildlife, don't keep it to yourself; come and join us and share it with others!!
