What we're looking for

We need an enthusiastic and conscientious individual to be the leader of a group with a membership of around 90. Tasks include: •To chair all meetings or to arrange a stand-in •To ensure the AGM business includes an annual report of activities, a financial report and elections of the committee •To ensure a minimum of four committee meetings are held in any one year •To ensure communications from the Society are reported to members of the committee and liaise, as necessary, with RSPB staff •Set, or approve, the agenda for meetings of the committee and for the AGM. You will be supported in the role by a team of dedicated committee members.

The skills you need

You don't have to be a bird expert, people management skills are more important for this role, along with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. Willing to become a member of the RSPB if not already. Sociable, plus the ability to communicate well with a small group as well as an audience. Organisational skills including the ability to delegate. Basic IT skills an advantage.

Your time

What's in it for you?

This is your chance to increase awareness about the RSPB and the importance of conservation in your local area. This work can be very enjoyable and you will have the chance to work alongside like-minded and enthusiastic RSPB members and engender an interest in new people to the group as well as to the wider public through events. On a personal note, it's a great opportunity to make friends and contacts both within and outside the group.
