Vacancy type:
Helping visitors at our reserves
Location:

What we're looking for

Our welcome is the most important part of the Old Moor Experience; inspiring everyone to give nature a home. You'll be an essential member of the Old Moor team, welcoming thousands of visitors to the reserve. You'll warmly welcome every visitor into the centre and reserve. You'll thank existing members for supporting us and inspire people about the work we do and warm them up to the idea of membership. RSPB membership is the lifeblood of our charity and underpins every single thing we do. You'll issue entry tags orientate and inform each customer to their bespoke needs. E.g. offer free rucksack loan if a family with young children are visiting. You'll need a passion for wildlife conservation and ensure that you are wearing the correct uniform and name badge, and become actively involved with what is happening on the reserve before you start every shift.

The skills you need

We are looking for enthusiastic people with a ready smile. You'll enjoy striking up conversations with individuals, families and large groups passing on your passion for nature. You'll enjoy being in a busy environment, often standing for long periods. You'll be able to motivate yourself and others and have fun whilst working under pressure. You don't need to be a bird or wildlife expert as training is always given - it's much more important that you are good with people and are willing to learn and recruit new supporters to the RSPB.

Your time

Minimum:
1 day a week - Monday, Tuesday, Saturday or Sunday
Duration:
ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

The opportunity to be the public face of the RSPB at one of its flagship nature reserves. You'll be an essential part of the Old Moor team, delivering real results for conservations and inspiring generations to support nature conservation. You'll gain insight and knowledge about our conservation work from one of the most diverse and wildlife rich nature reserves in England.
