Vacancy type:
Inspiring young people, Community groups
Location:
Lakenheath Fen

What we're looking for

We need your help to enthuse and educate the next generation about the wonders of the natural world! The RSPB aims to give young people the interest and skills to look after the world for the future. We are looking for volunteers who share this ambition, to join our team of talented Wildlife Explorers (WEX) group leaders at Lakenheath Fen. The WEX group runs exciting, engaging and educational activities for children once a month on the reserve (and sometimes other nearby locations). We need your help in planning, leading and promoting the group's activities, to create a fun and rewarding experience for children attending the group's events. The Lakenheath Kingfishers WEX Group meet on the second Saturday of the month at Lakenheath Fen. The group is specifically for 8-12 year olds. If you're interested in helping, please get in touch!

The skills you need

You will need to have excellent communication skills with children, their parents and other leaders. An enthusiasm for the natural world and conservation is a must but you don't have to be an expert on birds! You will be expected to help plan, prepare, promote and run activities, working with the other leaders to do so.

Your time

Minimum:
Up to 12 meetings a year, 3-4 hours per month
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

This is an opportunity for you to share your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm with children through fun tasks and activities. This is your chance to inspire the next generation of naturalists, and make a real difference to the future of wildlife conservation. The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in Europe! We can help you gain skills and give you a valuable insight into our work.
