Vacancy type:
Practical conservation
Location:

What we're looking for

Aird's Moss is a valuable area of upland peat bog being managed by RSPB Scotland. The bog has been badly damaged by drainage. We are working to help it recover and to encourage the important plant and animal species that live on it. We need enthusiastic volunteers to help us with practical tasks and survey work to help us with this.

The skills you need

Enthusiasm, an interest in conservation and a love of the outdoors are desirable, as is a friendly open manner to work with others. You will need to be prepared to be out in all weathers in a remote environment. A good level of fitness is essential, as the work can potentially involve walking for 3-4 hours a day over rough terrain. You will need an up-to-date tetanus injection.

Your time

Minimum:
Work parties will be fairly infrequent, averaging one day per month.
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

This is a great opportunity to make a difference on a nature reserve near you. Our work is going to hugely improve the bog wildlife. It will be a chance to get to know part of your local environment, learn some new skills and meet new people.
