People Engagement Volunteer - Events Helper, Coombes & Churnet Valley

Wednesday 30 January 2013
Vacancy type:
Office and administration, Publicity and promotional, Inspiring young people
Coombes & Churnet Valleys

What we're looking for

To encourage more support for the RSPB and its work by helping to organise and/or run events for the public. You'll be part of a small, dynamic team that will host engaging events at Coombes Valley nature reserve. There will also be the chance to work at off-site venues. We want to show everyone how wonderful nature is, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable working with children, young people and families and can inspire them about the wild wonders around them and how the RSPB is making a difference!

The skills you need

A warm and engaging personality. Ability to talk to a wide range of people. An interest in wildlife and conservation. Knowledge of the reserve and its wildlife would be helpful, but training can be given if needed.

Your time

Ideally at least 1 day every 2 weeks
All year round

What's in it for you?

You'll become a key part of a friendly team of staff and volunteers. We'll all be working together to make a positive difference to the reserve, wildlife, habitat and visitors. Part of the role will involve talking to visitors about supporting the RSPB through membership, and we'll provide training and support in how to do this and an understanding of why it's so vital to all the work we do. The training and experience you will gain can help as a stepping stone towards a career in conservation.
