What we're looking for

Around the UK and across the world, nature is in a steady, desperate decline. Wildlife and wild places are disappearing at an alarming rate. 10% of all UK species are now under threat of extinction. We're determined to stop this happening, but we urgently need your help. Our volunteer fundraisers are the local face of the RSPB. Last year, in Wales, our team raised just over £100,000 in donations through managing pin badge and collection boxes in local areas to help fund RSPB Cymru's vital conservation work. Could you help us raise even more? Community Fundraising is an exciting area where anyone can be involved. To increase unrestricted funding quickly we need to grow the charity pin badge box scheme in local areas through the help of volunteers. Becoming a volunteer on the scheme is one of the simplest ways to help give nature a home, requiring only a small amount of time every month with the reward of raising hundreds of pounds for nature conservation in Wales every year.

The skills you need

Numeracy, and the ability to handle cash efficiently and accurately. Basic computer skills. Ideally a good knowledge of local shops and sites. No knowledge of birds or wildlife is required – just a passion and enthusiasm to help give nature a home.

Your time

Flexible, hours to suit you

What's in it for you?

Becoming part of a movement working together to help save nature. The role is flexible, entailing just a few hours per month to suit your lifestyle. An opportunity to develop your fundraising skills and boost your CV. You will be invited to volunteer events and will have the opportunity to meet RSPB staff and volunteers who share your enthusiasm for saving nature. You will also have opportunity to make new friends and contacts, all while you are helping to promote the crucial work of the RSPB and the message that nature is in trouble. Appropriate training and friendly support will be provided, and your expenses will be reimbursed where necessary.

The safety and welfare of our workforce is paramount at all times, throughout the activities we will be following safe working practices to ensure our workplace is Covid-secure. As part of this, all volunteers will be asked to complete a Covid-19 susceptibility assessment before volunteering. We love nature — we're passionate about wildlife and wild places. We believe the environment should be at the top of the agenda whether the subject is building houses, setting up wind farms, fishing our seas, transporting goods or educating our children. We never give up; we get things done; making changes for the better, for wildlife and for people.
