What we're looking for

Around the UK and across the world, nature is in steady, desperate decline. Wildlife and wild places are disappearing at an alarming rate. 10% of all UK species are now under threat. We're determined to stop this happening, but we urgently need your help. Our community fundraising volunteers are the local face of the RSPB. Last year, in Wales, the team raised nearly £100,000 in donations from our pin badge and collection boxes, and almost £1 million nationally. Could you help us raise even more? Community Fundraising is an exciting area where anyone can be involved. To increase unrestricted funding quickly we need to grow the charity pin badge box scheme in local areas through the help of volunteers. Becoming a volunteer on the scheme is one of the simplest ways to help give nature a home, requiring only a small amount of time every month with the reward of raising hundreds of pounds for nature conservation in Wales every year.

The skills you need

Good communication skills and an ability to liaise with your local community links. Numeracy, record-keeping skills and the ability to handle cash efficiently and accurately. Basic computer literacy. An ability to use your own initiative. Available for a few hours each month.

Your time

Flexible, hours to suit you

What's in it for you?

Be part of something big – a vast movement working together to help save nature. The role is flexible, working around you – just a few hours per month, to suit your lifestyle. An opportunity to develop your fundraising skills and boost your CV. Make additional community links and meet new people in your local area. You will be invited to volunteer events and will have the opportunity to meet RSPB staff and volunteers who share your enthusiasm for saving nature. You will also have lots of opportunities to get out and about in your community, to make new friends and contacts, all while you are helping to promote the crucial work of the RSPB and the message that nature is in trouble.

No knowledge of birds or wildlife is required – just a passion and enthusiasm to help us give nature a home. Appropriate training and friendly support will be provided, and your expenses will be reimbursed where necessary. We ask for a suggested donation of £1 per badge and, on average, each box raises £150 per year for the RSPB. Our current range has over 100 high quality and attractive badge designs, depicting UK wildlife. We love nature — we're passionate about wildlife and wild places. We believe the environment should be at the top of the agenda whether the subject is building houses, setting up wind farms, fishing our seas, transporting goods or educating our children. We never give up; we get things done; making changes for the better, for wildlife and for people.
