What we're looking for

We are looking for people to act as a visitor welcome and parking assistant at weekends and bank holidays. You will be making sure visitor's arrival runs smoothly, first impressions last - let's make it a great one! The position involves: - Ensuring safety in the car parks and along the roads and paths for all pedestrians - Directing traffic in and out of the site - Directing traffic in and out of car park spaces by communicating with drivers - Assist in fitting as many cars as possible into the car park - Working in all weather conditions - Helping with directions and visitor's initial questions - Modelling a fabulous hi-vis vest and looking professional whilst speaking mysteriously into walkie-talkies

The skills you need

The skills you need - Multi-tasker - Punctuality - Stamina - you will have to stand for the duration of the shift - Relaxed personality - you will be extremely busy at peak times, dealing with large numbers of cars and visitors - Confidence in dealing with the public - happy to help with directions and questions - Good organisational skills - Happy to work as part of a large team

Regular Saturday or Sunday and bank holidays
All year around

We are looking for people who live within 12 miles of the reserve, have their own transport and are available at peak times. Appropriate training will be provided and expenses reimbursed where necessary. The RSPB relies on the support and generosity of volunteers to make a difference.
