What we're looking for

Listen. Can you hear that? It's the call of the wild! If you love nature and want to spend a few hours a month encouraging families to take part in pond dipping, bug hunting, bird spotting and discovering nature, this could be the role for you! We're looking for passionate and enthusiastic volunteers to support with our family engagement events in Manchester's Mersey Valley as part of our ongoing partnership with Manchester City Council. Together we hold regular family drop in events at Chorlton Water Park and Fletcher Moss to connect children with nature, to teach them the importance of the natural world and to get families started on their Wild Challenge. You don't need to be a wildlife expert, but an appreciation of nature and the ability to communicate with adults and children of all ages is essential.

The skills you need

Enthusiasm for nature and the work of the RSPB; An outgoing personality and the ability to build rapport with families; Excellent communication skills, and the ability to talk to children of all ages; Willingness to undertake an induction and occasional further training related to the role.

Notes

Reasonable expenses related to the role will be paid. A uniform will be provided to wear when you are volunteering. Access to the internet and a regularly checked email address is essential, as this is how we will keep in touch. You will need to be able to get to and from at least one of the sites independently.
