Vacancy type:
Publicity and promotional, Volunteering at home
Location:
South and West Scotland Regional Office

What we're looking for

To assist the Kelvingrove Membership Development Team in engaging the people of Glasgow by running recruitment and information stands at supermarkets, garden centres and shows. RSPB membership really is the lifeblood of the Society and underpins every single thing we do. It helps us fund nature conservation work here and across the UK - not only the ongoing land management of our reserves but also by creating and enhancing magnificent wild spaces for nature and people to enjoy. It is therefore important that you can inspire people about the work we do and ask them would they like to become members.

The skills you need

You'll need to have the confidence to strike up conversations with strangers and the ability to enthuse people about the RSPB's work. You will need to know, or be willing to learn, about the benefits of RSPB membership. You will also need to be able to stand for long periods and be able to carry membership materials

Your time

Minimum:
Flexible – at least one half day a week
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

This role will suit someone who loves to meet and talk to visitors and who would gain satisfaction from passing on their passion about wildlife. The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in Europe! We can help you gain skills and give you a valuable insight into our work.

Notes

Several volunteers are needed to provide greater flexibility. You will need to be a car owner and be willing to travel to venues within the area. Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary. The RSPB is the UK charity working to secure a healthy environment for birds and wildlife, helping to create a better world for all of us. We belong to BirdLife International, the global partnership of bird conservation organisations. Your time and skills could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB and it would be great if you could join us. Nature is amazing – help us keep it that way.
