What we're looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic and friendly individuals to support our visitor centre staff in providing excellent customer service to visitors interested in purchasing binoculars and telescopes. We aim to enthuse visitors about the RSPB range of binoculars and telescopes thereby increasing opportunities for sales. All profits from sales are invested in RSPB Dungeness nature reserve. Your time here will be spent in the visitor centre in the shop area or out on the reserve at a pop-up stall. The role involves chatting to visitors about the RSPB's range of binocular and telescope products and providing guidance and support on the products to help the customers choose a product. This role will suit someone who loves to meet and talk to visitors and who would gain satisfaction from helping customers find the right product. By volunteering in the RSPB Dungeness visitor centre, you will help us present the RSPB in a friendly and professional manner. This will increase both visitors' enjoyment and our income for the benefit of wildlife conservation. If you are a great 'people person' and have some time to spare this could be the role for you!

The skills you need

-To enjoy working with people and being part of a team -Confidence to communicate well with members of the public -Enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation and to turn that into new members -You will need to be confident, accurate, reliable and friendly as well as being presentable -A willingness to learn about the range of RSPB binoculars and telescopes in order to be able to demonstrate them and provide advice and sell to customers -Basic knowledge of binoculars and telescopes would be helpful but training will be provided -Willingness to learn and use basic sales techniques - Familiarity with customer care and retail experience an advantage, but not essential -Enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation

The RSPB is the country's largest nature conservation charity, inspiring everyone to give nature a home.
