Habitat Maintenance Assistant- RSPB Brading Marshes Nature reserve

Volunteers required to help with general duties at Brading Marshes Nature Reserve. Working outdoors year round on various habitat maintenance tasks. Work is physically demanding, but very rewarding.

What we're looking for

To assist in various habitat management tasks that may include: maintaining reserve infrastructure, coppicing, scrub clearance & attending the fire, installing and repairing fencing for livestock, monitoring wildlife, invasive weed removal and occasional special events.

The skills you need

Essential: •Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers •A good team worker. •Able to perform physical habitat estate maintenance tasks. Desirable: •An interest in wildlife and the natural environment •Experience in a similar field of work. •Previous use of habitat management tools. •Driving licence.

Your time

Minimum:
Occasional throughout the year. A full day's work is usually desired. Needed on an as and when basis as tasks arise. During winter months weekly volunteering opportunities are often available.
