What we're looking for

To create a friendly, open and exciting learning opportunity for young people in Shetland. Being part of the RSPB Young Nature Volunteers is a fun, fulfilling and challenging experience that gives you the chance to contribute to our conservation and fundraising work whilst inspiring the next generation to keep saving nature. We believe young people are tomorrow's conservationists and that's why we need your help to make sure our teenagers have a chance to get involved with nature conservation in Shetland. We already have a small group of dedicated young volunteers in Shetland and we need your help to accommodate more.

The skills you need

Boundless energy and enthusiasm. The ability to communicate with young people. You will need to attend a weekend training course during your first year. Shetland's Young Volunteers meet about once every 8 weeks to help us with a wide range of conservation work. Our programme of outdoor activities vary from practical and fundraising work to helping at public events and a weekend camp during the summer. With preparation time, you will need 8-10 hours a month.

Your time

What's in it for you?

The opportunity to enthuse and inspire young people about wildlife, birds, the environment and conservation. The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in Europe, where we can help you gain skills and give you a valuable insight into our work.
