Vacancy type:
Showing people wildlife, Helping visitors at our reserves
Location:
Conwy

What we're looking for

We want to inspire visitors to RSPB Conwy nature reserve about wildlife and to encourage families to explore nature. Your help is needed to engage with visitors to discover nature eg by encouraging them to look through a telescope from one of the hides, by providing the chance for children to go on a bug hunt, and simply to point out some of the amazing nature that can be found right by the trails. We need you to help visitors to have an enjoyable, informative and inspiring nature experience.

The skills you need

You'll need to have the confidence to strike up conversations with members of the public, knowledge and enthusiasm about wildlife and conservation, but most important of all, you'll need a friendly demeanour. You'll be prepared to get involved in a hands-on way and enjoy meeting the public!

Your time

Minimum:
1 day or half day per week.
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
Particularly school holiday weekdays and weekends

What's in it for you?

This is your chance to get out on the reserve, meet lots of new people and chat to them about nature, enthuse and inspire them. You'll be able to utilise your communication skills, as well as gaining new knowledge about the work of the RSPB. You'll go home knowing you've made a difference, ensuring that visitors get a really positive experience at the nature reserve and helping support the RSPB by encouraging new memberships. You will be supported by reserve staff, be helping in a friendly environment, and be playing a part in aiding the largest nature conservation charity in Europe.
