What we're looking for

Can you help children to discover the thrill of finding their first ladybird or the joy of jumping in a muddy puddle? Our Little Lapwings club aims to connect young children and their carers with weekly fun, hands-on nature activities and we need volunteers who can enthuse children about the natural world We'd be asking you to lead on delivering a 1 – 1.5 hour session with toddlers, preschoolers and their parents or carers. Typical activities include minibeast hunting, mud pie making, story-telling and songs all built around a short walk outdoors on our beautiful reserve You're part of a team so we're flexible on time commitment and if you don't feel ready to lead a group we need helpers too!

The skills you need

You don't need to be have worked with children before, you just need abundant enthusiasm and a natural ability to communicate your passion for nature to children and families Confidence to lead the group and help everyone to enjoy the activities Well organised and a great communicator A keen interest in wildlife, conservation and nature and of course, you need to like working outdoors! A creative and flexible approach – we'd welcome your ideas and contributions to the group Ability to use e-mail as this is how we will mostly communicate with you

Your time

Between 2 and 8 hours per month – term-time only
