What we're looking for
We are looking for a new member of our team at Sandwell Valley Nature Reserve, to help us bring a variety of audiences closer to nature. The reserve is an amazing place to see wildlife, get outdoors and relax; we want local people to make the most of it! The Connecting People and Nature Intern will be instrumental in helping us connect with the community and develop events and activities that will encourage them to come back again and again. We're looking for someone who will: - Engage with visitors on the reserve to help them make the most of their visit. - Work with the Visitor Experience Officer to support the delivery of events, taking responsibility for planning, delivering and evaluating at least two events. - Lead on marketing and promotion, through various streams of communication in an imaginative way. - Enthuse and inspire the public to join the RSPB, ensuring that agreed individual targets are met. - Organise and deliver staff and volunteer membership training, to help the reserve achieve its recruitment target. - Work with a team of volunteers to attend local events to represent the RSPB, promoting the reserve and its activities. - Interpret wildlife with signs and stories so visitors feel closer to nature. Work with our events team to think creatively about how we interpret our reserve each season, such as designing seasonal trails or fliers. - To make sure we're doing our best to get people involved and having a great time, you will help us evaluate and monitor the people engagement work we do, through surveys, visitor feedback and event evaluation. -Help the team with the day to day running of the visitor centre, making sure the visitor areas are presentable and clean.
