Vacancy type:
Practical conservation, Showing people wildlife
Location:
Skinflats, c/o Central Scotland Reserves

What we're looking for

We need local people like you to help us look after RSPB Scotland Black Devon Wetlands near Alloa and to take ownership of the brand new reserve for the local community. The warden team cannot be on the reserve every day as we manage a number of sites across Central Scotland, so we would like you to be the regular face of RSPB Black Devon Wetlands. We would like you to walk the reserve and keep an eye on our new paths, boardwalks, benches and viewing screen as well as the wildlife found on this special site. To keep the reserve looking at its best, you will carry out litter picking when required. With your knowledge of the reserve and surrounding area you will be able to chat with members of the public and tell them how special the reserve is, as well as keeping them up to date on the work that we are carrying out.

The skills you need

Enthusiasm and an interest in nature and a passion for the local area are essential. You will need to be happy in the great Scottish weather and able to get to RSPB Black Devon Wetlands regularly. We would love for you to chat to visitors so the ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds would be useful.

Your time

Minimum:
Flexible - averaging one hour per week
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

You will be part of a small but perfectly formed warden team who manage a brand new, brilliant nature reserve at RSPB Black Devon Wetlands! You will see amazing wildlife, including sights that the casual visitor might miss and will be able to see how things change at RSPB Black Devon Wetlands over the coming months and years. You will be the first to hear about ongoing work and learn more about what we are doing and why. Maybe even get a chance to add your own touch to the reserve! It's a chance to get out and about in nature and chat to visitors to the reserve. You will gain invaluable insight into the workings of Europe's largest conservation charity. This is a flexible role so get in touch and we can work with your needs.
