What we're looking for

We are holding a family nature day in Holyrood Park with Historic Environment Scotland on the 14th April and we are looking for friendly enthusiastic volunteers to help us setup and run a range of activities. There will be lots to do from physically demanding tasks like helping to set up (and later dismantle) marquees and move tables through to displaying signs, welcoming visitors and helping them get the most out of their Wild Day Out! We will be careful to match you up with tasks that that suit your preferences. We are looking for people to help us for anything from a couple of hours through to the whole day which will run from 8.30am – 5pm (this covers set up, the event itself from 10am – 4pm and an hour of packing up time). So whether you can be available for a few hours or even all day we would be very keen to hear from you.

The skills you need

We are looking for a range of skills - if you have them all that's great but equally if you would like to help with some activities but not other's that's fine too – just let us know when you get in touch. We are looking for people who are happy carrying heavy equipment during our event set up through to those who are confident speaking to visitors, pointing them in the direction of our wide range of activities and signing them up for one of our guided walks.

What's in it for you?

It's so rewarding to be part of a team delivering a fantastic event for hundreds of nature loving families! This was a super event last year and we are planning on making it even bigger and better this year. We will make sure you get breaks throughout the day and you will have time to browse the range of stands and there will also be time to go on a guided walk if you would like with our knowledgeable Historic Environment Scotland and RSPB Scotland guides. This will be a varied role and by lending a hand you will be enabling us to connect lots of families with nature in this beautiful park.
