What we're looking for

We need you to help us make bookings for school visits and input school and youth group booking details into a database, along with inputting evaluations when the schools have visited and producing reports from the database. You will be supported to analyse the school visit data and contribute to writing an annual report on school visits. You will also help to prepare material for use in outreach work. This helps us to connect thousands of children in the North of England to nature at six of our reserves, and deliver outreach to many schools not close to reserves while delivering a high standard of customer service to schools.

The skills you need

• Good computer literacy - ability to use email, internet, Excel and word processing. • Good attention to detail • Ability to work as part of a team, communicating promptly and effectively and being flexible when plans change • Positive attitude and motivation to work on your own on repetitive tasks

Your time

Minimum:
8 hrs week in summer, 3 hours week in winter
Duration:
All year (v. little time req in Aug, Dec & Jan)
Period:
mainly term times

What's in it for you?

You will receive training in data protection and safeguarding, as well as experience in using a database and analysing data in Excel. You will have the opportunity to attend a regional training day to learn more about how one of Europe's largest conservation charities is run. You will also be able to visit at least one reserve in the course of the school year, to see a school visit in action and understand how your role is contributing to our mission to save nature. In addition you will be a valuable member of a professional team supporting children to learn about and engage with nature.

Notes

Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be reimbursed where necessary. The commitment from 1st April – 30th July is approx. 8 hours / week (eg. 3 mornings or 3 afternoons per week). Due to the seasonality of the school visits, this will reduce to approx. 3 hours / week over the autumn and winter. Will consider a role share. Not suitable for home work due to extensive work with TED database.
