Rye Meads

What we're looking for

Are you passionate about environmental education and enjoy working with young people? We are looking for volunteers to help us with the Wildlife Explorers children's Group at RSPB Rye Meads Reserve. Your aim will be to enthuse and educate the next generation about the wonders of the natural world and keep them interested, as well as giving them the skills to look after the world for the future. We are looking for male and female volunteers to join the other friendly leaders. The group meets once a month (weekends only) at the Rye Meads reserve and occasionally at other locations locally and further afield. The group is for 8-12 year olds.

The skills you need

You will need to have excellent communication skills with children, their parents and other leaders. An enthusiasm for the natural world and conservation is a must but you don't have to be an expert on birds! You will be expected to help plan, prepare and run activities, working with the other leaders to do so.

Your time

Up to 12 meetings a year, 4-5 hours per month
All year round

What's in it for you?

This is a great voluntary opportunity for you to share your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm with children through fun tasks and activities. The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in Europe! We can help you gain skills and give you a valuable insight into our work.
