Baron's Haugh weekend conservation work party

Saturday 27 May 2017
Vacancy type:
Practical conservation
Baron's Haugh, c/o SWSRO

What we're looking for

Baron's Haugh is a real gem for wildlife right on the edge of built up Motherwell. We need help to look after the wetlands, meadows and woodlands both for the myriad of wildlife that live there, and for the many people who visit. From planting hedgerows and fixing fences, to picking up litter, there is always plenty that needs done! Why not help us with this, by coming along on one of our monthly work parties on weekends?

The skills you need

Enthusiasm, an interest in conservation and a love of the outdoors are desirable, as is a friendly open manner to work with others. You will need to be prepared to be out in all weathers. A reasonable level of fitness is essential. You will need an up-to-date tetanus injection.

Your time

Monthly work parties (on Saturdays)
All year round

What's in it for you?

This is a great opportunity to make a difference on a nature reserve near you. Our work helps maintain and improve valuable habitats for wildlife and an important resource for the local community. It will be a chance to get to know part of your local environment, learn some new skills and about nature conservation. All of that whilst being out in the lovely outdoors and meeting new people.

All the training necessary and background information will be provided and since you'll be giving up your time, it's only fair that we offer to re-imburse your travel expenses (up to 25 miles). The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. We rely upon memberships and donations to fund our work. By volunteering your time and skills, you could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB. Nature is amazing – help us keep it that way.
