Reserve Ambassador (Lade Pits, Kent)

This role is for local people to Lade Pits wishing to volunteer their time to help look after the reserve and be the face of the RSPB for any visitors to the site.

What we're looking for

Lade Pits is a relatively new part of our nature reserve. We want to protect this site for nature but also allow this part of the site to become a reserve which local people can enjoy. We are seeking local volunteers to help us look after Lade Pits, providing an ongoing presence on site and assisting our reserve team in managing and protecting it. Tasks would include: - Engaging with visitors - Keeping the reserve tidy by litter picking - Reporting any issues to the duty manager

The skills you need

- Confidence to communicate well with members of the public - Enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation and to turn that into new members - You will need to be confident, reliable, approachable and friendly as well as being presentable - Be comfortable working alone

What's in it for you?

By volunteering in this role you will be provided with a full induction into the RSPB and your role, given uniform and a name badge. You will be the face of the RSPB during your time at Lade, providing information for visitors, keeping the reserve tidy and reporting any issues. This is an excellent opportunity to ensure that visitors to this amazing nature reserve have a top experience. You'll really be making a difference to the smooth running of the reserve. By regularly walking around the reserve you'll get to know more about the reserve's wildlife, it's historic structures - the Sound Mirrors, and also get the chance to meet new people.
