What we're looking for

The RSPB Aldi Schools Outreach project aims to bring 2 million primary children closer to nature across the UK by connecting them to nature in their school grounds. The Birmingham and Black Country Schools Outreach team would like your help to manage and co-ordinate the resources we need to deliver the sessions in school. Our resources vary from laminated identification sheets and finger puppets to clipboards and bug pots. You'll be placing orders in-house, receiving orders and checking delivery notes, distributing resources to the Schools Outreach team, keeping accurate records using spreadsheets, laminating and using a printer/photocopier. You'll also communicate with the team via email to find out what resources are needed, plan to place orders to coincide with team get-togethers and work with the Schools Outreach Officer to maintain the project budget using Microsoft excel.

The skills you need

•Working knowledge of office equipment – printer, laminator, photocopier •Computer literate preferably in Microsoft office and excel •Organised and accurate in maintaining records •Proactive in team communication via email and over the phone. •Able to work on your own •Flexible in working location – either at home or at an RSPB office or reserve in order to use office equipment or to receive and distribute resource orders. •An enthusiasm for nature and helping children to connect with the natural world would be great but not essential.

Your time

What's in it for you?

You'll be playing a vital supporting role in inspiring young people about the natural world on behalf of Europe's largest conservation charity. You'll receive training on current purchasing systems and have the freedom to improve and develop administrative systems. You'll receive full induction in to the RSPB and have access to the RSPB's training and e-learning program. As a member of the Schools Outreach team, you'll be invited to attend social and volunteer events throughout the year.
