What we're looking for

We are looking for someone to help us co ordinate a team of more than 15 highly motivated volunteers and to recruit new volunteers for a wide range of roles. You will help us ensure all volunteers have a rewarding and enjoyable time whilst volunteering with the RSPB. Tasks would include: • Providing a friendly, helpful and consistent point of contact for all existing volunteers. • Being the first point of contact for volunteer enquiries. • Working with reserve staff to identify volunteer gaps and new roles. • Recruiting new volunteers by attending events and advertising in local media and on the internet. • Registering volunteers on the RSPB's central database and keeping all volunteer database records updated. • Maintaining accurate records of the hours contributed by volunteers. • Compiling and maintaining a volunteer briefing pack. • Supporting the induction process for new volunteers • Co ordinating our programme of volunteer training and development. • Taking the lead on organising thank you events for the reserve volunteers.

The skills you need

Essential • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. • You need to be great with people, friendly and approachable. • Excellent telephone manner and written communication skills. • An ability to lead/inspire others and work as part of a team. • Creative and forward thinking. • A good level of IT skills. • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a busy team. Desirable • Previous experience of managing volunteers. • Previous experience of running small scale events.

Your time

1 day a week. Predominantly home based though you will need to visit the reserve office from time to time for meetings.
6 months with potential to extend
Starting in February 2018
