What we're looking for

As part of the Oxford Swift City project, we're attending a number of local events where we hope to inspire local people to take practical actions that benefit swifts. At these busy events (mainly in summer) we need the help of enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver our information and activities. This will help us to engage more people with the project. We'll be asking you to welcome and chat to visitors to our stand and give us a helping hand setting up, which may include putting up a marquee.

The skills you need

You'll need to be welcoming and like chatting to people and have the confidence to initiate conversations. So, if you have an outgoing personality, like to meet new people and have good communication skills, you could be just the person we're looking for. You'll also need to be passionate about the natural world but don't worry you don't need to be an expert! We will support you and give you all the information you need about swifts and the project. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and be happy working in a variety of settings, including being outdoors.

Your time

Minimum:
1 - 2 days per month
Duration:

What's in it for you?

This is your chance to get out and about meeting lots of new people and chat to the public about wildlife and nature, enthuse and inspire them with your passion. You'll be able to improve your communication skills, as well as gaining new knowledge the Oxford Swift City project and the RSPB. At the end of the day, you'll be going home knowing you've made a difference. We will provide support and information about the project to ensure you're happy talking to the public about it.
