What we're looking for

We are looking to create a team of people with knowledge of Science Communication who want to grow their experience in working within a science-based organisation. You will be taking on an exciting public-facing role, delivering science related messages during RSPB Scotland events and activities to a range of audiences including young people, families, and other non-specialist groups. The role will involve: ? Engaging with and disseminating scientific research to a variety of non-specialist audiences; ? Developing resources for activities and sourcing materials (depending on your experience and availability); ? Delivering workshops.

The skills you need

To excel in this role, you will: ? Be a confident and enthusiastic communicator experienced in a public-facing role; ? Have a demonstrable interest in natural sciences and conservation, be comfortable with scientific information; ? Have considerable tact and diplomacy and be prepared to be challenged on controversial scientific topics; ? Be charismatic, creative and able to engage and inspire a range of audiences; ? Be able to work as a part of a team and on your own; ? Be available during holiday periods and weekends. Experience in education or informal learning would be a great advantage.

You will be entirely supported by our experienced staff who will give you insight into our organisation and its aims. You will also be given full induction and science communication training. The certificate you will receive upon completion will be a fantastic addition to your CV.
