What we're looking for

This role is vital to ensure that all visitors to the site are welcomed in a consistent and positive manner. All visitors will receive the information they need to have an enjoyable visit and non-members are encouraged to join the RSPB and support Sherwood Forest in the future. This role will involve engaging with families and children and encouraging them to take part in self guided activities. Main tasks: Membership recruitment Giving Visitors a GREAT welcome to the site Providing excellent customer care to everyone who visits the site Answering the telephone Taking events bookings and serving people in the shop if necessary Handing out activities for families and collecting completed activities

The skills you need

The confidence to initiate conversations with the public An infectious enthusiasm for nature and its conservation or Robin Hood and Sherwood A warm and friendly personality To advocate a positive 'can-do' membership culture, so that more membership conversations take place, with a higher proportion of those conversations resulting in members of the public joining and greater membership income for the RSPB. Confidence in maximizing profits for our conservation work via the promotion of offers, products and loyalty card Able to communicate with visitors from all walks of life with differing knowledge and interest The ability to listen and respond appropriately The ability to inspire visitors to give nature a home where they live Basic computer skills are needed for membership recruitment and operation of the tills

As a welcome volunteer you have the enjoyable role of meeting new people and helping members of the public have a memorable visit. We always remember the first person we speak to when we visit an attraction and it can really make a difference. You will always be working with another volunteer in this role.

Several volunteers are needed to provide greater flexibility. Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary.
