What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who has experience generating good, sharable content that will work effectively across social media channels, especially Twitter and LinkedIn, and who can promote this on a dedicated account and also provide additional unique content to the RSPB Scotland media team(s) for existing social media accounts and blogs. The content will focus mainly on: • Events at Nature Reserves • Family and Youth activities for Year of Young People • Gala events • Inspiring volunteering activities RSPB Scotland has an exciting programme of work across many events, on our nature reserves, family and youth activities and a thriving volunteer team. This includes gala events celebrating progress and success in nature conservation, family and youth engagement to help connect more children to nature and innovative and engaging volunteering roles that help us do more for natural world. You will be critical in helping to promote this range of work, especially that undertaken as part of the Year of Young People, Edinburgh International Science Festival, Volunteers Week and our gala Nature of Scotland Awards. You will help to plan and maintain a database of RSPB Scotland's events programme, keeping in contact with organisers and ensuring that content, photos copy and quotes for social promotion are planned in advance. This includes a specific focus on our Nature of Scotland Awards, now in their seventh year that will be launched on Monday 12 March. This is the most important event in the RSPB Scotland yearly calendar. A dedicated awards Twitter page @NatureofScot was launched in September 2017 and we are looking for an individual who can now help us to build our audience. You will also work up a social media plan to ensure there are regular relevant posts on the pages and investigate ways in which we can connect with our audience.

The skills you need

- Good technical knowledge of social media including twitter analytics. - Have the ability to transform small snippets of information into interesting and engaging stories suitable for Twitter and LinkedIn - Good communication skills - For this role we ask that you are able to join us at the Shortlist Reception (date to be confirmed) and during the evening of the event which is Thursday 22 November.

You will be able to build on your social media skills working on some exciting projects which in turn will help us do more for nature.
