What we're looking for

We want to keep lots of families entertained and happy at our membership stands in and around Dorset. We're looking to build a small team or events volunteers. If you're based in or near to Dorset and you're looking to spend time inspiring kids to do some natural craft and explore the natural world we have events near you coming up all through the year. Activity tables bring the opportunity for kids and adults to stay with us a little longer making something that they can take home that shows how much they love wildlife. Home-made bird feeders, Animal Face Masks, pipe cleaners made into dragonflies and all sorts of other crafts might make all the difference keeping the public entertained long enough for them to learn more about the RSPB and our mission to Give Nature a Home. More hands needed! We often attend these events on weekends, school holidays and bank holidays with only 1 or 2 staff members and we'd really like some volunteer help. We'd love to be able to have activity tables at more of our events. You could help make all of this possible!

The skills you need

We're looking for people who are : • Enthusiastic about nature and natural craft • Great communicators happy working with kids (experience working with kids helpful but not essential). The stands can get quite busy! • Reasonably mobile and able to travel or arrange travel to a wide range of sometimes unfamiliar towns and locations.

Your time

Minimum:
One day per month.
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

We'll arrange for you to come along to lots of fun events; shows and fairs. These could be county shows or fun and interesting community events such as festivals of nature or perhaps air shows, craft shows and flower shows or even just small community park events. There will be lots of exciting and stimulating days talking to lots of interested kids and adults about nature. We'd also involve you in deciding what activity to run. If you're creative or good with craft then we'd love for you to lead on choosing activities that work. You'd get to choose which events suit you too. We'd never ask you to travel too far, we offer travel expenses or lift shares. Plus the social side. We'd hope to make you part of a team of events volunteers from all over the South West region with gatherings and social events for you to come along to as well.
