What we're looking for

Do you have an interest or experience in photography, and appreciate stunning images of wildlife and the natural world? Then look no further, as we may have the ideal volunteering opportunity for you! We are looking for someone with good organisational skills and an eye for detail, to join our fantastic communications team at the RSPB Norwich office. If you are able to spare a morning or afternoon once a week, we need your help to: - Edit our extensive wildlife photography library. - Research existing images in our database to ensure the photo captions and image descriptions are correct. - Ensure our images are all in the correct size and format. - Ensure we have all correct image consent forms in place. - Ensure correct image permissions are sought and copyrights are recorded. By volunteering to help us with these tasks, you will be enabling the RSPB in the Eastern England region continue putting fantastic and inspiring images out into the public domain. Images you process may be used on our promotional materials, blogs, websites, newsletters and social media!

The skills you need

We will need you to: - Be confident using Microsoft applications and outlook. - Have a basic knowledge of Photoshop and / or Premier Elements. - Be able to communicate with lots of different teams. - Give clear and decisive instructions both verbally and through email. Additionally, a knowledge of British wildlife identification would be useful, though not essential.

Your time

Four hours per week (weekdays only)
All year round

What's in it for you?

If you're a keen photographer yourself, this role will help you to make best use out of your own images. You'll gain experience editing, organising and categorising a large quantity of photos. Have the pleasure of spotting photos you have worked with on, in all forms of regional RSPB media, and you may even be able to add your own photos to our collection too! You will also be part of a dynamic and highly skilled team, with expertise in media and communications. This is a brilliant opportunity to learn about this area of work within a wildlife conservation organisation, and be an important part of a team that aims to inspire the public about the amazing conservation work of the RSPB. Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary. As you will be given access to internal RSPB systems, you will also need to be able to complete a short online data protection course for this role. The RSPB is the UK charity working to secure a healthy environment for birds and wildlife, helping to create a better world for all of us. We belong to BirdLife International, the global partnership of bird conservation organisations. Your time and skills could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB and it would be great if you could join us.
