Car Park Attendant - Bempton Cliffs

What we're looking for

Bempton Cliffs is one of the busiest RSPB reserves in the summer. We aim to deliver first class customer care at all times, as well as giving an outstanding home to nature. We want you to help control traffic and direct new arrivals to available spaces in the car parks, which makes a huge difference for the visitor experience. At the height of our season (April - June) car parking spaces can be at a premium so you will be working as part of a team to ensure that all spaces in our two car parks (plus an overflow on extremely busy days) are utilised as soon as they become available. Many of our visitors have never been to Bempton Cliffs before so you may also get the opportunity to tell them about the reserve, including where everything is, the best viewpoints to visit and which birds they are likely to see.

The skills you need

Essential •Approachable, with a friendly demeanour •A desire to help people and exceed expectations through excellent customer care •Problem solving •Enjoy being part of a team •Confidence to initiate conversations with and talk to members of the public •Willingness to undertake appropriate training and personal development Desirable •Be confident in dealing with tricky situations •First Aid certificate •Knowledge of and familiarity with Bempton Cliffs •Experience of directing traffic •Enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation Please note that this role is not for the faint-hearted. You need to be fit, able to stand for long periods of time in all weathers. Applicants must be over 18 years old and able to work without a chaperone.

Your time

Flexible - only a few hours per day
March - August (especially May and June)
