Skinflats, c/o Central Scotland Reserves

What we're looking for

RSPB Black Devon Wetlands is a brand new reserve located in the heart of Alloa. Created with people in mind, we want to hold regular events on site to engage people with the fantastic range of wildlife found on site and across the wider Inner Forth so we are looking for a group of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to help us do this.

The skills you need

We are looking for enthusiastic people who enjoy meeting new people, striking up conversations, and are able to engage with people of various ages and backgrounds. If that sounds like you then this is the role for you! Full of initiative and reliable, you will need to be comfortable working with members of the public, answering any questions they may have and dealing with any issues. If you have an interest in wildlife or the outdoors then that's great, if you want to help pass that on to the next generation then that's even better. Some previous experience of working with the public is desirable but not necessary.

Your time

Minimum:
1 day per month, at weekends
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year around

What's in it for you?

This is a fantastic opportunity to help develop the events programme on a new reserve, help reach new audiences and experience the wonder of nature through a child's eyes. It's a great opportunity to develop your CV by taking responsibility for a very important and constantly developing area of the RSPB's work in the Inner Forth. You can develop your organisation skills as well as bringing some creative flair to our events.

Notes

Travel expenses will be reimbursed where necessary and, if required, training will be given. RSPB Black Devon Wetlands is easily accessed via public transport (Alloa train station is just a ten minute walk away) but RSPB Skinflats is not. As the majority of the events planning will take place at RSPB Skinflats, having your own transport would be beneficial. The RSPB works for a healthy environment rich in birds and wildlife. It relies on the support and generosity of volunteers to make a difference. The RSPB is the UK Partner of the global federation of conservation organisations, BirdLife International.
